2026 Event Details

Join us on Friday, September 18, 2026, for an unforgettable evening at the annual Bourbon Night with the Foundation, hosted by the Thomas Foundation at the historic J.Q. Dickinson Salt Works in Malden, West Virginia. Beginning with an exclusive VIP reception from 5:30–6:30pm and continuing with the main event from 6:30–10pm, this special night brings together friends, supporters, bourbon enthusiasts, and community leaders to celebrate, connect, and make a lasting difference in local healthcare.

Nestled along the Kanawha River, J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works is one of West Virginia’s most treasured destinations. For generations, the Dickinson family has harvested all-natural salt by hand from an ancient ocean trapped deep beneath the Appalachian Mountains of the Kanawha Valley. The rich history, beautiful setting, and authentic West Virginia charm make it the perfect backdrop for an evening dedicated to giving back.

Guests will enjoy an exceptional culinary experience prepared by James Beard Award-winning Chef Paul Smith and the acclaimed team from 1010 Bridge Restaurant, paired with thoughtfully selected bourbons and complemented by a full-service bar, live entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow supporters. Throughout the evening, guests can also browse and bid on an exciting silent auction and participate in a raffle featuring unique experiences, and specialty items.

We’re also delighted to welcome back Itty Bitty Therapy Horses. Based at Horseshoe Heaven on Smith Farm in Scott Depot, this inspiring equine-assisted therapy program helps individuals build confidence, support mental wellness, and experience the healing connection between people and horses. Their presence is always a guest favorite, and a reminder of the many ways compassion can transform lives.

Shaping the Future of Healthcare

Proceeds from Bourbon Night with the Foundation will help establish a Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program at WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals. As communities across West Virginia continue to face physician shortages and growing healthcare needs, this program will play a vital role in training and retaining future physicians right here at home. By investing in medical education within our hospitals and communities, we are helping ensure greater access to care, stronger patient outcomes, and a healthier future for generations to come.
